Here are two quick tips....
1. Don't zoom in, move in!
2. Push right
With tip 1, zooming in affects your depth of field by narrowing it as well as compressing things. If you move in you can keep your depth of field and often create a better composed image.
With tip 2, if you push the exposure right but without clipping (clipping is when you overexposing to render pure featureless white) then when adjusting the exposure during your post processing, less noise will now be present in the shadows.
Try these two tips and see what happens....
