- Have you set the white colour balance for the light you are shooting in?
- Is aperture or time more important and hence a priority? If wanting to create a "frozen in time" image making sure time is short is important. On the other hand, making sure the depth of field is shallow enough to bring the near object or person out of the page means setting a small F-stop.
- How will the camera estimate exposure? evaluative of the entire scene? spot metering?
- What is the light doing? Is now a good time to take the shot or do you need to wait?
- Is using "mirror lockup" and bracketing important to do here?
- How will you lead the viewer through the image?
- Our eyes naturally go to light areas, so where are the bright parts of the image?
- Auto focus or manual?
- What creative style will you be trying out?
- And finally - shoot for the waste basket and have fun! ☺
